Tallahassee's yearly Tomato Feastival was causing traffic jams around the back entrance to Goodwood Museum and Gardens on Sunday. More than a thousand friends, farmers, chefs, and food lovers filled Goodwood's grounds on Sunday, June 7.
It was the 21st Feastival, which began as a small gathering at Louise Devine's Turkey Hill Farm. She was a bit amazed by what it's become.
"I mean, there were a lot (of people) last year, but....wow......WOW!" she exclaimed.
Despite the name of the event, tomatoes aren't the only farm-fresh produce in the spotlight. Jen Brockheimer with Sienna Lee Gardens was showing off a very impressive blueberry crop.
"After Jubilee (Blueberries) closed down, we're now known for our blueberries and that's what everybody likes to come out and pick."
Local farmers agree the event is a critical way to connect with the community and promote their produce.
